Buttons and Icons

This section describes all the buttons found in Barcode & Label. It serves as a reference if you need to quickly find the use of a particular button. Some of the buttons launch the Properties flyout which we will describe in details in the next section.

From left to right:

  • New -> New Label - This will display the Select Label Template flyout used for picking a label creation template. If you are unable to find your label stock in the template database, simply choose a similar one and then customize it.
  • Open -> Open Label - Launch the File Chooser to open an existing label. Barcode & Label recognizes a label file with the extension ".labelxml".
  • Save - Invoke the File Chooser to save the current label design. It is important to note that the app saves a label design with a ".labelxml" extension. Everything from the objects, properties, application properties, field properties, grid Properties, People's contact and template dimensions will be saved. This is to ensure portability of the ".labelxml" format so that when the file is sent to another user, it can be loaded and replicated entirely like the original one.
  • Copy - Copy the selected objects in the label canvas to the Clipboard. You may also use the Ctrl-c shortcut key.
  • Cut- Copy selected objects in the label canvas to the Clipboard and delete the objects from the label canvas. You may also use the Ctrl-x shortcut key.
  • Paste - Paste selected objects from the Clipboard to the label canvas. You may also use the Ctrl-v shortcut key.
  • Delete - Delete the selected objects in the label canvas. You may also use the DEL button on the keyboard.
  • Undo - Undo the previous operation. You may also use the Ctrl-z shortcut key.
  • Redo- Redo the operation that was previously Undo-ed. You may also use the Ctrl-y shortcut key.
  • Print - Launch the preview page and display the print layout with the contents of the labels. In the preview page, you will be able to control and setup the Start Position of the Label, Number of Labels to be printed and Number of Pages to be printed.
  • Top Ellipsis -> Setup Fields - This will launch the Variable Fields flyout to allow you to customize Serialized Counters or import an Excel Spreadsheet.

Simply draw a complete rectangle and all the objects in the marked area will be selected.
